Space, Glorious Space

This shot taken west of the gorge looking east. Similar to yesterday’s, but cleaner. Breathe deeply!

John,
What a fabolous set of pictures! I’ve got one almost idntical (though not as excellent as yours) that I took of the ‘lead earthsip’ closest to the road in 2005.

Space, glorious space, indeed. Now go to a satellite picture of the planet at night and look at the British Isles. Do you see any gaps between the light? And that is why I plan to return next year, health permitting.Because I need that, the soul wrenching, solar plexus opening of it, the letting out of breath, the inspiration. In the meantime your pictures are like images of a lost love, one still alive, a wild wilderness we do not have over here, and which really, we all need.

Hi Gillian!

I’ve been to the UK once, and Europe twice, in the last few decades. Not nearly enough, frankly. But I certainly understand. The same lack of open wild space holds true in much of this country, too. In Maryland, for example, it was especially galling. No so here! Of course, sometimes it seems as if there’s too much space. But given the choice, this is what I’d opt for.

Hope you make it over here soon. Best wishes.
