I realize they might be a necessary evil….just not sure I like them in MY (wishful thinking!!!) Backyard!??! Hmmmmmmm……….
Yo, Steve! Those things totally steal the spirit of a place. They just take it over completely.
How close is that to Hwy. 209 in Quay County?
Very good! It’s on Hwy. 469, actually. North from Grady, which is on Hwy. 209, the east-west stretch. The picture was taken in the vicinity of the Caprock Amphitheater at the entrance to the Caprock Wind Farm.
The drive from Tucumcari to the top of the mesa on 209 is about my favorite drive on earth for reasons I won’t bore you with. It used to be Hwy 18, until the state decided to give the two-digit highways three digits. My grandmother, (God bless her) knowing how much I loved the drive, hunted down an old Hwy. 18 sign, that I still have today. (although it no longer hangs in my bedroom like it did before I got married).
Do they still have the Billy the Kid play at the amphitheater? I saw it about 25 years ago.
